Confederate Army Service Records for Isaiah Grayson Barbee |
Isaiah Grayson Barbee served in Company E, 5th Calvary, 63rd State Troops of North Carolina. The available records do not cover his entire span of service, with the last record being November 1864. Isaiah is listed both as a teamster and a wagoner. The difference between the two is unclear, but one explanation about the supposed differences between teamsters and wagoners is that a teamster was a driver whereas a wagoneer also owned the wagon itself - but the terms may have been used interchangeably. Teamster/wagoner wagons carried commissary, quarter-master, and ordnance stores. Isaiah Grayson Barbee's Civil War record images have been obtained from National Archive and Records Administration records digitized by Footnote.com. |
